One of the most anticipated titles of the year, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, has been released after months of high anticipation with a little doubt thrown in (it is an EA game after all). This single-player action-adventure game was developed by Respawn and published by EA. The review embargo was lifted yesterday at 9pm Pacific time on Thursday, November 14 and now every major video game outlet has given their review on the game. Over at OpenCritic, it is standing in the Mighty rating with an 85 top critic average out of 43 critic reviews on all platforms. Looking over at Metacritic, you can see a similar situation. The game currently stands at 90,84, and 84 on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One respectively. The user scores on the site are also in the high 80s which has become increasingly rare for an EA game. Looking more closely at the reviews, we can see why.
IGN gave the game a 9.0 and with this to say: “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order makes up for a lot of lost time with a fantastic single-player action-adventure that marks the return of the playable Jedi.” The verdict on the site goes on to state: “A strong cast sells a dark story while keeping things fun and loyal to Star Wars lore, and fast, challenging combat mixes with energetic platforming, decent puzzles, and diverse locations to explore for an all-round amazing game.” Other reviews are in the same mind with Gamespot giving it an 8 and saying: “By increasing difficulty, ratcheting back Force powers, developing compelling characters, Jedi: Fallen Order delivers a worthy expansion to the Star Wars galaxy. One of the most critical reviews comes from USgamer which goes on to say that the game “falls short” due to “pacing problems and a host of technical issues” which leads to the site giving the game a 3.5 out of 5. This seems to be the lowest score at the time of this writing. In short, the game is difficult but rewarding in terms of great combat, gripping characters, and fun platforming all wrapped up in a single-player experience. It seems like the Force is with this one (sorry for the joke). What do you guys and gals think of the game and the reviews? Does it change your opinion about EA? Or has Respawn done it again and made an amazing, fun game? Comment below and let me know.
