E3 2017 Microsoft Press Conference Impressions

Alright, the Microsoft press conference just wrapped up and there is a lot to talk about so let us start.

  • Xbox One X was revealed with a November 7, 2017 release date with montage of tech specs before the games were revealed.
  • Forza Motorsport 7 was revealed with a car. An actual car on the stage! Hype!?!?! Otherwise the game looks beautiful and I’m definitely going to pick it up… eventually.
  • Trailer for Metro Exodus which looked  amazing.
  • Segment on Assassin’s Creed Origins which blew me away (because I’m an Assassin’s Creed fan, sue me)
  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as a console launch exclusive which is not surprising to be honest.
  • Deep Rock Galactic as a console launch exclusive. Mining? Shooting? Dwarves? (Throws money at screen)
  • State of Decay 2 launches in spring 2018. Definitely getting a bigger push in terms of marketing. Looks fun.
  • The Darwin Project reveal. Seems to be a PVP game with Mixer integration which I don’t know if it will catch a audience or not. We shall see.
  • Minecraft in 4K! Community Servers! Minecraft!More!
  • Dragon Ball  FighterZ trailer. (Screams in Japanese) Seriously, the game looks fun for Dragon Ball Z fans and fighting game fans.
  • Black Desert as a console launch exclusive. Don’t know much about the game other than its famous character creator.
  • The Last Night revealed as a console launch exclusive. A pixel cyberpunk story so I’m in.
  • The Artful Escape revealed as a console launch exclusive. Electric guitars? Check. Music Lasers? Check. Drug Trip? Check. I’m in.
  • Code Vein E3 Trailer. Bloodborne in anime style.
  • Sea of Thieves gets a release window with another trailer showcasing British humor and people being launched from cannons. Need to get a group of friends to play.
  • Tacoma with a release date for August 4. Seems like a game heavily focused on the story so I will probably check it out.
  • Super Lucky’s Tale announced for Xbox and Windows. Surprised that they are making a version of a VR game without VR. I’m going to wait until the reviews are up before checking it out.
  • Cuphead launches this year! Nuff said.
  • Crackdown trailer with introduction with Terry Crews (yeah! screaming!) with a release date for this year. Definitely going to check it out since I’m a fan of the first one(the second one isn’t great).
  • Montage ID@Xbox. Yay! More indies!
  • Ashen trailer. Action Role Playing game but I need more details before I form an opinion.
  • Life is Strange prequel. Going to play the first one this month. Need more adventure games in my life.
  • Lord of the Rings: Shadow of War looks incredible and something that I want to play badly.
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps reveal. (Cries at the beautiful trailer)
  • Original Xbox games through Backwards Compatibility. As someone that never owned the original xbox, I’m stoked by the news.
  • $499 price point for Xbox One X. The price point is a happy medium for the fans so hopefully it does well.
  • The final segment focused on Anthem which seems to be a cross between The Division, Destiny and Mass Effect. Not my type of game to be honest.

In summary, the Microsoft E3 2017 press conference was actually really good. The games looked amazing due to the power of the Xbox One X. A nice mix of exclusives with third party support. Still not sure if this is enough for Xbox to make a comeback in this generation. Did you like the press conference? What games are you hyped for? Comment below and let me know.
